Guangdong Women’s Polytechnic College is a public college, approved by Guangdong Provincial Government, and sponsored by Guangdong Women’s Federation, which grew out of Guangdong Women’s Cadres School established 30 years ago.

　　GWPC is located in Panyu District, Guangzhou, just north of the 2010 Asian Games Town. The campus is fully digitalized, beautiful and elegant, with 96 on-campus simulation classrooms or bases, 168 off-campus training bases and over half a million books. The college has comprehensive, advanced teaching equipment and a state-of-the-art informationization construction that make it the leading institution of its kind in Guangdong, which offers students an ideal place for study and self development.

　　 There are more than 6,000 students registered for about 30 specialties, offered by five departments: Applied Foreign Languages, Management, Economics & Trade, Applied Design, and Culture & Fine Arts. Ancillary divisions include Ideo-Political Education, Physical Education, the Adult Education College, the Information Resources Centre, the Higher Vocational Education Research Centre and, the Women’s Education and Research Centre.

　　 GWPC has a highly qualified and experienced faculty, which is competent and rational with regards to age, domain, educational background and academic title. They work together and strive for a high-level proficiency in both teaching and in scientific research. There are about 400 staff members. Of the full time teachers, more than thirty percent are associated professors or higher and over fifty percent have a doctoral or master’s degree. Each Specialty has its own academic leader and core teachers who are guided by the Specialty Instruction Committee made up of on-and-off-campus experts, local entrepreneurs and professionals who all contribute from their wide and rich fields of experience. Currently, GWPC has established friendship and cooperative relations with universities, institutes and women’s organizations in Japan, the United States, Germany and, in Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao as well. Many undergraduate programs have also been implemented in collaboration with universities in Guangdong Province.

　　 Ever since its foundation, GWPC has, in response to the talent demand of social and economic development, devoted itself to the cultivation of high-quality, high-competence female talents, with emphasis on fostering the female integrity with a spirit that is “Self-respected, Self-confident, Self-reliant and Self-improved”. In pursuit of this goal, GWPC, in accordance with the laws of female talent development, has been endeavoring to construct unique curricula to the benefit of female talent development and to advance a campus culture which is highly woman-featured. Over the years, GWPC’s past achievements and contribution to modern society have been substantial, with more than 98% of its graduates finding immediate employment in their chosen sectors. This includes over 20,000 college and secondary vocational graduates, above 30,000 woman leaders and more than 11,000 trainees of various kinds of professional skill training programs. In terms of developing the female gender potential, enhancing gender equality, promoting female employability and exploring female-featured education, GWPC has made a vigorous commitment to modern Chinese society. This has been recognized with many awards over the years, such as, “The Civilized Unit of Guangdong Province”, “The Civilized Campus” and “The Civilized Unit for Ten Consecutive Years”.

　　 GWPC has always been vitally supported by leaders from many spheres of government. Party and national leaders, including ZHANG Dejiang, WANG Yang, CHEN Muhua, PENG Peiyun and GU Xiulian, as well as provincial leaders, including LU Ruihua, ZHANG Guoying, LI Hongzhong, LIU Yupu, LEI Yulan and WEN Lanzi, all have visited GWPC for inspection and instruction. They all highly praised GWPC and expressed their earnest expectations of its development. With these leaders’ inspiration, all the staff and students have affirmed that they will continue to live up to these expectations with hard work and total commitment, the goal being to write a new and more significant chapter in GWPC’s development.
